November update: We’re in this together

We’re in This Together

Despite the uncertainty and upheaval caused by the election earlier this month, several fundamental truths remain unchanged:

  • Climate change is real, and it is driven by human activity.
  • Science is real, and we need scientists’ voices to combat climate change.
  • CSLDF will continue to protect and defend the scientific endeavor – regardless of who sits in Congress, on the Supreme Court, or in the Oval Office.

While there is justified concern that a second Trump presidency could lead to even more anti-science actions, we have a better understanding of what to expect than we did in 2016. CSLDF will continue to defend climate science and scientists against attacks by:

  • Amplifying our ability to defend scientists with the full force of the law, including bringing the fight directly into the courts.
  • Engaging with the science community to meet their needs with new resources like our updated guides to scientific integrity policies at federal agencies.
  • Continuing to update the Silencing Science Tracker, which documented 341 attempts by the previous Trump administration to silence science.

Whatever January brings, CSLDF is ready. Our organization was founded to respond to attacks on science and scientists. We fought the first Trump administration’s attempts to silence scientists and deny the realities of climate change, and we are prepared for Trump’s return.

Trump pledged to “let [RFK Jr.] go wild on health… on the food… on the medicines.” That’s the same Robert F. Kennedy who said last year, “There is no vaccine that is safe and effective,” despite the wealth of scientific evidence to the contrary, and who has embraced and elevated conspiracy theories, like chemtrails.
