Statement of Climate Scientist Dr. Virginia Burkett in Response to Whistleblower Filing

This week, CSLDF filed a government whistleblower complaint on behalf of climate scientist Dr. Virginia Burkett. Dr. Burkett has issued a statement in response to her filing.

As covered in Nature, during the Trump administration, Dr. Burkett spoke out about efforts to manipulate climate science and science programs within the United States Geological Survey (USGS), and was retaliated against and demoted in response.

While Dr. Burkett has already been reinstated to a senior level position, her complaint asks for investigations to learn from these events and seeks changes to be made to better protect scientists in the future.
