Campus Reps Program

This initiative engages law professors in helping scientists understand how to protect themselves from harassment and legal attacks. We created the program with the goal of building a national network of lawyers at public and private universities who can serve as the first point of contact for researchers with questions about legal issues. Campus Reps do not provide direct representation to researchers, but serve as an educational resource and refer scientists to us as needed.

About the Program

Our current cohort consists of 19 law professors at universities across the United States. Read about the program in The New York Times.

Eligibility
Anyone with a JD or LLM is welcome to apply; adjuncts and fellows can also participate. You must work at an institution in the U.S. to participate in this program.

Program Expectations
Campus Reps are expected to:

• Attend a training in-person or remote
• Host an informal workshop for scientists on their campus (all materials for these will be provided by CSLDF)
• Meet with scientists who have concerns on an as-needed basis
• Meet periodically with their university counsel and communications department, ideally once per semester
• Refer academics in need to CSLDF
• Allow your contact information to be added to our website
• Update us on your activities and progress

We provide Campus Reps with training and materials to help them prepare to support scientists. Participants also receive ongoing support from CSLDF.

Application Procedure
At this time we don’t have a program training scheduled, but we are accepting new reps on an ongoing basis. Please contact us if you’re interested in participating in the program.
