Speaking Up for Science in All Three Branches of Government
When: Thursday, November 12 from 1:00-2:30 PM ET; register here.
This free webinar will help scientists understand how they can engage with political processes in the wake of the 2020 election to the fullest extent possible while minimizing the potential for negative repercussions in their professional lives.
Attorney Augusta Wilson will discuss how scientists can engage with partisan political activities and groups, as well as certain limitations on political expression and involvement that it’s important for scientists to be aware of, particularly the Hatch Act and anti-lobbying restrictions. She’ll also talk about how the First Amendment protects scientists’ rights to participate in political activism.
This webinar is endorsed by the Geological Society of America Geology & Society Division and is not restricted to GSA members.
