September Update: We’re Ready

We’re Ready

This November, U.S. voters face a stark choice. We must choose between allowing the return of another virulently anti-science administration or an administration that believes in and supports science.

Whatever the outcome, we’re ready.

Proposals from one side include plans to demolish federal democracy as we know it by dismantling or weakening federal agencies, including gutting NOAA and the National Weather Service. Both agencies are critical in understanding our changing climate and increasing extreme weather events—and yet this information is increasingly imperiled.

But we and many others are fighting back.

Along with our allies at the Sabin Center for Climate Change Law, we are committed to shining a harsh light on and opposing these and other government anti-science efforts. We are also helping more scientists than ever with free legal support, education, and toolkits, including a Political Action toolkit for anyone looking to get involved in campaigning and political advocacy.

And we are preparing to help the thousands of federal researchers who could potentially lose their jobs after the election.

This November, we all have the opportunity to help call out and reject efforts to silence science. We can remain silent and give in to the anti-science and anti-democracy movement, or we can stand together in support of science, truth, and reality. Join us.

Summer Match Update

Thanks to our generous supporters and friends, we are excited to announce that our 2024 Summer Match target was met! That means an extra $43,000 in donations for vital work to protect and defend climate science and scientists. We wish to share our deepest gratitude to our committed community for the ongoing support of our mission.

If you weren’t able to give over the summer, you can still take part in our ongoing fight against attacks on science and scientists. Take a stand for science today.

Upcoming Events

We have an exciting event coming up in mid-October with March for Science:

How scientists can be involved in the run up to the 2024 election

Scientists are increasingly looking to use their voices to engage in political matters, especially as the 2024 U.S. election approaches. In this webinar, CSLDF will help scientists understand how they can fully participate in political campaigns and political activism, including limitations on political expression, how to engage with elected officials, First Amendment protections, and best practices for minimizing the risks associated with advocacy.

Please check our Events page for more information in early October!
